One Galaxy S10 Smartphone Will Get Android 13 - Screen Rant

Samsung has already begun rolling out the One UI 5 update, which brings Android 13 to eligible phones, and while the Galaxy S10 series shouldn't be eligible, one model will also get the update. The Galaxy S22 series is the first of Samsung's smartphones to get the One UI 5 update, bringing several new features.

One such new feature is Bixby Text Call, an accessibility feature that allows users to answer calls by typing their response and having a computer read it out to the person on the other end. It can also come in handy when users are in a noisy environment but need to make a call. One UI 5 also brings a new feature called Stacked Widgets which allows users to place multiple widgets on top of each other.

When the Galaxy S10 series launched in 2019, it included three models — the Galaxy S10e, the Galaxy S10, and the Galaxy S10 Plus — all of which ran Android 9 Pie out of the box. All three phones have been updated to Android 12, the last of the three OS upgrades that Samsung promised. However, there is a fourth model that many may have forgotten — the Galaxy S10 Lite. This model was launched nearly a year later, in Jan. 2020. And unlike its siblings, it ran Android 10 out of the box. Since it is also eligible for three OS upgrades, it will receive the One UI 5 update that brings Android 13, and according to SamMobile, it is already in testing.

The Last OS Upgrade

As reported by the source, Samsung has begun testing an Android 13-based One UI 5 update for the Galaxy S10 Lite but won't release a beta version for users as it did with the Galaxy S22 series. Instead, owners of the phone in Germany and Malaysia should expect a stable release in December if everything goes well. Since the phone was also sold in the United States, owners in this part of the world should also look out for the update around that period.

The Galaxy S10 Lite isn't the only "Lite" phone that should get the Android 13 update. The Galaxy Note10 Lite, launched alongside it as a cheaper alternative to the Galaxy Note10, should also be eligible. Like the Galaxy S10 Lite, it also launched with Android 10 out of the box, so it is expected that Samsung will release the One UI 5 update for it too. However, there is no news of when that will happen.
