Whatsapp is the app that has truly revolutionized mobile communications, which has practically replaced SMS, which is used all over the world as a communication standard.

It doesn't matter if Whatsapp is inside the Facebook galaxy or if there are alternatives like Telegram that also has more functions than Whatsapp, WhatsApp is still the most used chat and message app, where we can surely find all of them, available for practically every type of smartphone including Samsung, Huawei, all Android phones, iPhones and Windows phones.

In this article, we are therefore going to make a complete summary of all the Whatsapp tricks and the most hidden secrets, to become perfect not only in writing messages but also in managing the various conversations, groups and using Whatsapp as a true master.

1) Hide the last time you were online and read messages notifications

By default, WhatsApp shows the time of the last time you logged in and shows it to others.

On iPhone you can disable this possibility with an option in Settings> Chat settings> Advanced.

On Android instead, go to Settings -> Account> Privacy to hide the time of the last access and also the double blue tick of message read.

Regarding what to show to others we saw in another article the Privacy Whatsapp guide.

Only with an additional app, it is possible, however, to hide last access and read confirmations without giving up seeing the last access of others.

2) Backup and Restore of WhatsApp messages

WhatsApp makes automatic backups of conversations in Google Drive on Android phones and in iCloud on iPhone, but to be more sure of not losing anything you can also make a manual backup and save WhatsApp chats, conversations and images,

3) View and delete photos and videos received in Whatsapp

You can browse all the photos received in Whatsapp from the Gallery app. You can then save all the photos on your mobile phone on your computer or include the photos received on Whatsapp in Google Photos backups . To do this, open Google Photos, go to the main menu, open Device Folders, search for Whatsapp Images, tap and then turn on the Backup and sync switch.

Conversely, it is possible to free up space in Whatsapp and delete photos and videos from the archive.

5) Create Links For Important Contacts

If you always chat with the same people, it is worth creating a quick link on your mobile screen for the most important contacts. Only on Android, this trick is very simple and you just have to long-press on the group or on the name of a chat you want to link to, then once selected, press the button with three dots to find the " create direct connection " option . ".

6) Prevent WhatsApp from displaying the images and photos received in chat in the main gallery of the mobile phone.

With WhatsApp, it can be annoying to see a folder dedicated to the photos received in the Gallery app or in the Camera Roll. Maybe it's about private images or nonsense to ignore. To avoid this problem on the iPhone, go to Settings -> Privacy -> Photos.

To hide photos from the mobile gallery on Android, however, the thing is more complicated: you need to create a .nomedia file in the WhatsApp image folder, as explained in the linked guide.

7) Change the phone number of the Whatsapp account

If you changed your phone number but kept the same smartphone, you don't need to uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp. There is a setting inside that allows you to change the Phone Number in Whatsapp

In Whatsapp, go to Settings -> Accounts -> Change number . Check the new number and you're done.

You can protect your Whatsapp account with two-step verification, as explained in another guide.

Also note that in the groups to which you are invited, a message will appear to everyone regarding the change of the Whatsapp security code for the end-to-end encryption of Whatsapp.

9) Install WhatsApp on an Android tablet

WhatsApp can only be installed on devices that work as a phone, otherwise, it won't work.

In addition, there is another limitation, Whatsapp can only work for one account on one device at a time and therefore it is not possible to connect simultaneously from two different devices to the same account.

To install Whatsapp on tablets, you can still take advantage of a trick described in the guide on how to access Whatsapp with the same account on two smartphones or more.

10) Use Whatsapp on PC

To begin with, it is possible to install Whatsapp on PC even without a smartphone.

From January 2015 it is possible to chat on Whatsapp Web from any computer.

From May 2016, however, the official Whatsapp program is available for PC and Mac.

11) WhatsApp Chat heads on Android

One of the best things about Facebook Messenger is the profile pictures that appear as moving dots on the screen when you receive a message.

Using WhatsApp Chat Heads you can achieve the same effect. The app also allows you to customize the colour of the LED, the notification sounds and the colours of the dots for each contact.

12) Whatsapp usage statistics on Android

Suddenly, the world is at a point where remote working dictates the best communication features, ranging from security to ease of use and high levels of privacy. But as the big tech oligopolies failed to protect citizens and corporations in many of these critical areas, one Israeli startup moved in to launch an innovative challenger to the status quo.

Even though face-to-face communication has always been essential to mankind, mobile apps through digital technology now also allow communication without the need for direct interaction. The last few weeks of imposed lockdowns where people have been forced to work from home and keep social distances even from their loved ones have been challenging, but mobile apps have saved the day.

Voice, video, and text messaging apps are increasingly in demand and have a large market share out of the 6 million mobile apps available. Let's evaluate 12 of the most popular apps that people prefer to use.

1.      Snatch App

SnatchBot is already a world leader of AI and intelligent chatbots offering customer support, data collection and scalable sales solutions to many companies. Their recent exciting launch and introduction of their new innovative product Snatch App showed how their team is determined to continue providing products that meet the demands of their discerning users and offer them secure messaging, whether this may be for personal or business use.

Besides offering a secure way to send and receive end-to-end encrypted messages, the app allows users to send voice messages, photos, documents, videos, and emojis. Snatch App also includes calls and video calls and all these services are provided for free. If the application is used for business, chatbot technology can also be incorporated, helping to provide an all-round service.

Snatch App is set to stand out among its major competitors especially Viber, Skype, and What'sApp because it doesn't use its users' data to send them intrusive ads or personalized marketing.

The points that make the app unique are its forward and backward secrecy, shredding, disappearing messages, message revocation, money transfers between users and payments. It also offers a chatbot directory and can act as a channel for its chatbots with AI embedded and predictive capabilities. The messaging app allows customer exchanges to be switched to human agents so that businesses offering services and goods can instantly respond to resolve customers' issues, respond to their queries and offer solutions for their needs.

Other competing apps on the market don't offer the ability for money transfers between users, a feature that is appealing to B2B users, consultants and freelancers who don't always receive the quality of service they expect from other online payment methods.

Message encryption is ensured through a combination of 256-bit-symmetric AES encryption and conversations are secured with a 2048-bit RSA encryption.

Like SnatchBot, Snatch App is a global service and supports 53 languages. It is available for use on all devices, including Windows Desktop and Android.

2.      Viber

Another popular video and messaging app with a worldwide appeal, Viber also offers free messages and calls between its users on any device. Their service is continuously upgraded with new features. Some of their latest include sync options, chats, call transfers, stickers, and chats with holders of public accounts.

3.      What'sApp

What'sApp is a messaging app that is also free and offers end-to-end encryption for protection for its users against security issues. iOS users who have updated their app can have their messages read to them by Siri. What'sApp promises that users cannot lose valuable personal information if they backup their old messages, something which many users have found is not always possible.

4.      We Chat

China has a popular messenger solution of its own called WeChat. In certain regions, its users can make cheap audio calls to landlines and mobile phones. Global video calls are free and the app can support groups of up to 500 users on a call. The ability for its users to make payments through WeChat is a popular feature, with users often finding they need not use any other payment methods.

5.      Line

Compatible with all common systems, Line allows free video calls among its app users and these are easy to place. Users just need to tap on the Camera icon on the home screen. Outside the platform, audio conversations are not free.

6.      Kakaotalk

Kakaotalk is very popular in South Korea and its neighboring countries. In the region, users can also buy emoticons and other products for the app from brand shops scattered everywhere. Even though the messaging app offers many of the essential elements of its competitors, communications are monitored by the authorities in South Korea.

7.      Telegram

Users of Telegram exceed 100 million people globally and the app offers services that can be used on all devices. All conversations are saved on T-cloud and the app is easy to use, fast and secure. One drawback is that posts cannot be categorized by the platform and users need to use hashtags.

8.      Facebook Messenger

Facebook Messenger has over 2 billion users worldwide and offers free audio and video conversations and chats. Even though its biggest advantage is that it is way ahead of all its competitors as far as numbers go, it often has issues with the video quality.

9.      Skype

The first messaging app, Skype has been on the market for 15 years now with over 300 million users. Not always stable with video calls, Skype is still very popular with people who use it for long-distance video conversations and is a popular tool for online teaching.

10. Oovoo

Compatible with Facebook, Oovoo offers free conversations, video calls, and voice messages. The app allows 12 users to join a group all at a time, and even though it sometimes does have stability problems it mostly manages to maintain a high-quality standard.

11. EyeSay

EyeSay offers a simple messaging process requiring very basic procedures and users can record and upload content free of charge. Even though it doesn't differ much from its competitors, EyeSay users can also send messages to friends that have Facebook and Twitter.

12. Snapchat

A very popular messaging app, especially among younger uses, Snapchat offers its users the ability to send a message that will auto-erase shortly after it is displayed. Over the years they have added features that include adaptive chats and day stories.

Final scoop:

This space will keep evolving. The latest features in chat apps mean that users may rethink it's reliance on apps like Whatsapp, Skype and Facebook messenger as they seek more privacy and awesome features.
