Does Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 4 dethrone the Surface Duo's dual-screen multitasking? - Windows Central

Image
Samsung has unveiled its latest generation Galaxy Z Fold device, an iterative upgrade over last year's model, with a slightly wider aspect ratio, flatter and shinier edges, plus better cameras on the back. Samsung is continuing to push foldables to a more mainstream market, but with a starting price of $1,799, it's still awfully expensive, even more so than the Surface Duo 2 at launch. I've always been fascinated by the people that actively compare the Galaxy Z Fold to the Surface Duo. I can see why, both are firmly under the "foldables" category, but I've never considered the Surface Duo a foldable tablet like the Galaxy Z Fold. The Surface Duo is a dual-screen phone with two large phone displays. The Galaxy Z Fold is an Android tablet with a large tablet-sized single-screen display that can fold in half to fit in your pocket. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but the similarities between the two ultimately come down to more screen space in your p

The old Google Pay app, now known as Google Wallet, expands to 6 new countries - Android Police

Read update Google Wallet arrives on Wear OS in four countries At Google I/O this year, Google did what it loves to do most: rebranding an existing service with some additional new features to put the spotlight back on it and get onboard some new users. Google Pay—which was once known as Google Wallet—was again rechristened to Google Wallet at I/O 22 with expanded functionality that includes support for car keys, vaccine cards, and more. The updated app was rolled out in 39 countries this July. Now, the big G has further expanded Google Wallet's availability to six new regions. The company has updated the Google Wallet support page to reflect the inclusion of the following new countries: Azerbaijan Iceland Moldova Qatar Serbia South Africa You can use the Google Wallet app to make payments and store your boarding passes and digital IDs in the above countries. To be clear, though: you will see the Google Pay branding when making payments. Addi

Google Reminders dark theme returns with other usability tweaks on Android - 9to5Google

Image
With Google Calendar set to lose Assistant Reminders, you'll be forced to use the very basic and incredibly laggy UI that's part of the Google app. It's still bad, but Google recently rolled out some usability tweaks to Reminders and restored the dark mode. Last September, Google Reminders gained a dark theme on Android that's controlled by system settings. It disappeared in recent months but is now back with Google app 13.33 and finally shows the status bar. Previously, Reminders would go fullscreen, thus requiring a swipe down or just opening the notification shade to get the time, which is pretty useful to have when scheduling to-dos. Meanwhile, the app bar no longer uses a blue icon, while the profile avatar has been replaced by a refresh button, which is more useful to have since this web view occasionally bugs out. The shadow below this UI element has also been toned down. Another change is to the FAB (floating action button), which is now a pill and blue

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 4 is the foldable phone most people should buy - CNN Underscored

Image
Foldable displays used to be something you'd see in sci-fi movies in a far-off futuristic setting. But as we've seen over the last few years from Samsung, displays that literally fold in half are here, and they're getting much, much better. Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 4 is a good example of that. The $999 Android-powered smartphone has plenty to offer for that price, including a 6.7-inch display that folds in half, shrinking down the entire footprint of the phone. The best part? When you open the Z Flip 4, you're presented with a familiar smartphone design and experience, unlike the more expensive $1,799 Z Fold 4 that gives you a smartphone on the front and a tablet in the middle, forcing you to make conscious decisions on which screen to use. The Z Flip 4's dual-screen approach isn't perfect, but there's a lot to like about the modern flip phone.
