Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Could Get The One Upgrade We've Spent Years Begging For

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 did not have a particularly impressive camera. In fact it was barely different from the camera on 2022's Galaxy Z Flip 3. Thankfully the Galaxy Z Flip 6 may change that disappointing trend, and offer some significant improvements to camera hardware for the first time in far too many years.

The news comes from SmartPrix, who seemingly reveals a number of key Galaxy Z Flip 6 specs. The most important spec here is that the Z Flip 6 will reportedly come with a 50MP main camera — up from the 12MP lens on the Z Flip 5. Sadly, though, it sounds like the 12MP ultrawide camera will be sticking around for another generation, as will the 10MP selfie camera.

SmartPrix also claims that there will be a larger 4,000 mAh battery, which is up from 3,700 mAh last year. That's a welcome upgrade, and combined with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3's extra efficiency should hopefully lead to a significant boost in battery life.

However many of the other specs look exactly the same as before, including the shape and design. So while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 may be getting a design upgrade this year, it seems the Z Flip 6 may be staying more or less the same.

That means we can expect a 6.7-inch folding AMOLED display with 2,640 x 1,080 resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Likewise the cover display is said to be 3,4-inches with 720 x 748 resolution. So it seems the rumors that we may be getting a slightly larger cover display have some competition — though we won't know which leaks are correct until the phone is announced.

Samsung is rumored to be announcing the Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 on July 10, at the next Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris. In the meantime be sure to check out our Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 hubs for all the latest news and rumors about both foldable devices.

The new Light Phone III offers significant upgrades over the Light Phone II, while maintaining the same concept of an un-smartphone without internet, social media, news, or email. The compact, metal-framed design has a simple black & white interface on a larger, matte OLED display. There's a 50 megapixel camera with a two-stage shutter button. A spinning navigation wheel graces the side, while the power button on top includes a fingerprint reader. The 1,800 mAh battery is replaceable. It's rated IP54 for basic water protection. The proprietary software includes: alarm, timer, calculator, calendar, directory, directions, voice memo, and a simple music / podcast player. It does not currently support streaming music, third-party messaging, nor rideshare hailing. The Light Phone III also includes NFC and front-camera hardware for "potential" future updates that would enable video calling and/or a tap-to-pay digital wallet. Sep 12, 2023Apple has revealed the iPhone 15 series, which moves to a USB-C connector and brings several key features from last year's Pro models to the more-affordable standard models. Should be called Dumb Phone

What a stupid concept. A phone that is basically an old feature phone with a touch screen. No internet, no color screen, no wi-fi, no Bluetooth, probably no texting, no anything really. It has 4G/5G built into it that doesn't work. Very smart. I could see if it retailed for under $100, but it's normally $800, however it's on sale for $400. What a bargain! I mean I could buy the latest and greatest Apple or Samsung phone for $800 or I can buy this useless phone that does nothing for the same price. I'll go with Dumb Phone. Even at $400 on sale, you can still buy dozens of mid to high end Androids for the same price and own them outright. From looking at their website, it looks like it's made for social media addicts who can't control...(continues)

Samsung Galaxy Can Soon Tell Users The Time By Simply Double-Tapping The Devices' Back

Samsung is reportedly developing a new double-tap feature for the back of Galaxy devices that will automatically tell users the time.

As Samsung tipster Tarun Vats recently discovered, the business is working on an upgrade for the RegiStar module in the Good Lock app. This software lets users personalize numerous features of their phone's UI. The update will include a new function named "Check Time with Back Tap."

The RegiStar module in the Good Lock software already allows users to designate actions to a double-tap motion on the rear of their phone. It is now capable of performing tasks such as capturing screenshots.

This new function allows users to check the time without unlocking their phone or turning on the screen. The idea is to improve accessibility and comfort, and it will be especially useful in situations where reading the screen is difficult, such as in direct sunlight or when the phone is in your purse or pocket.

While double-tap capability is already available for various Samsung Galaxy mobile device functions, the latest time check feature is unique because it will work even when the screen is turned off. This marks a substantial advance in usability and accessibility.

According to the team working on the functionality, it will be accessible first on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6, with other Galaxy smartphones receiving it later via the One UI 7 upgrade. However, tablets will be excluded from this deployment.

The "Check Time with Back Tap" function is still in the works, but it's likely to be a pleasant addition for many Galaxy phone owners. It is reportedly a little tweak that impacts daily convenience.

Samsung's Expansion of Live Translate

This new speculated function comes as Samsung is reportedly expanding its AI-powered Live Translate capability to third-party apps.

Initially limited to Samsung's calling software, Live Translate will soon be connected with various third-party messaging apps, allowing more users to communicate smoothly in different languages across their favorite platforms.

Live Translate, which debuted as a significant component of Samsung's Galaxy AI suite with the Galaxy S24 series, has garnered attention for its real-time translation capabilities during phone calls.

Live Translate Release

Live Translate capabilities are expected to be released alongside the next generation of Samsung's foldable mobile devices, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6, despite Samsung having yet to state a precise release date.

These highly anticipated gadgets are set to debut in early July. According to previous business pronouncements, if not included in the initial release, customers should anticipate this breakthrough upgrade to be released later this year.
